Uttoxeter Town 2 Pershore Town 1
Midland League Division One
PERSHORE could consider themselves somewhat unlucky to return from Staffordshire empty-handed on Saturday as a good performance did not yield any points.
The visitors were the better team in the first half as their front three of Jelson Antonio, Tom Hobbs and Reece Jacobs caused the home defence problems.
Early in the game Jacobs turned his defender, only to see his shot rebound off the post before the keeper made a good save from Richard Thomas-Robinson’s follow-up effort.
It was no surprise when Pershore took the lead on the hour mark when Dane Aldington crossed to Luke Church, who controlled the ball inside the box and created space before firing home.
Uttoxeter rallied though and scored twice in the closing stages to seal victory.
The winner arrived in the last minute when a rebound off the bar following a good save from Sean Edwards dropped to Martin Gadsby who slotted the ball into the net.
Louis Sherwin had levelled in the 80th minute.
Pershore remain 17th and entertain high-flying Lichfield City on Saturday.
