PERSHORE High School’s year eight boys’ football team are celebrating after being crowned district champions.
Led by teacher James Layton-Hill, Pershore secured the league triumph by beating Blackminster Middle School 9-1.
The Pershore boys scored 17 goals in their four matches, whilst conceding just two.
Mr Layton-Hill said: “It has been a pleasure taking the boys for the fixtures, where not only have they excelled on the pitch in this short but busy campaign, but they have been a credit off it too.
“When they first make the transition into secondary school it can take time to iron out the teething issues when a squad is finally assembled with students from many different primary or middle schools.
“This year, however, has been a pleasurable exception as the boys have hit the ground running and it just shows what can be achieved when the common interest shared – a love of football – has resulted in Pershore High School convincingly taking the title.”
