STALWART Evesham Golf Club member Hugh Homer fulfilled his long-held ambition when he played nine holes of competitive golf on the first day of his 91st year, writes Will Scarle.
Hugh, a resident of Hill near Fladbury for 45 years and member at Evesham since 1985, achieved the feat on Monday morning.
Surrounded by family and friends, the 90-year-old drove off accompanied by daughter Jane and grandsons Bill and Ed.
Some 30-plus members and family also joined in the round, which was celebrated afterwards in the clubhouse where his wife Jean and other non-playing family and friends joined him for a buffet lunch.
