EVESHAM’S Dan Lambourne led Redditch Chess Club to victory in the final of the Birmingham Chess League Terrill Trophy for the first time in their history, which spans more than 100 years.

Dan, who beat Chess Grandmaster Keith Arkell, is pictured holding the trophy alongside Glenn Cox, Ian Clack and Dave Smith.

Redditch played Stourbridge in the final and won 3-1 as Lambourne beat Arkell, Tom Robinson defeated Nick Arkell and Cox drew. With handicap taken into consideration, Redditch won comfortably.

The club starts again on Tuesday, September 2 with a fun quickplay evening. Details are available by e-mailing [email protected] and visiting the Redditch Chess Club Facebook page.
