Curnocks triumph in Evesham Seniors Mixed Open

VISITING players from 16 clubs joined Evesham members to play in the Evesham Seniors Mixed Open on the Craycombe course.

The competition was played using the Greensomes Stableford format with both players teeing off and then playing alternate shots from the chosen tee shot.

With the course in superb condition and the weather pleasant – not withstanding the odd heavy shower – scoring was good in a very keenly contested competition and the eventual victors on countback with 42 points were the Evesham pairing of Lesley and Richard Curnock.

In second place were Sally Meek and Richard Simmonds (Forest Hills GC) and third were Julie Powell and Bob Holloway (Leominster GC) with 40 points.

This was the second successful Evesham Seniors Open recently held following the Seniors Men’s Pairs Open better ball Stableford competition.

Whilst nobody was able to win any of the £5,000, golfing holidays or new clubs prizes on offer for a hole in one, generously sponsored by B W Financial Services, the scoring was high and victory went to Ian Wood (Evesham) and Tony Horner (The Vale) with 44 points.

In second place were the Evesham pairing of Ian Tait and Geoff Wellens with 43 points and third were Bob Stowe and Keith Willis on countback with 40 points.
