Cup finals keenly fought

Evesham Editorial 28th May, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

BOTH Pershore Hospital Cup finals were played on May 18 at Pershore Town FC and victories went the way of Stour Excelsior and Fladbury Athletic in the Minor Cup and Junior Cup respectively.

In the Minor Cup Stour led 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining but Offenham pulled a goal back and went very close to equalising.

However, Stour held on to win the trophy. The silverware was presented by sponsor Malcolm Dalley of Swords Under 17 Driving.

In the Junior Cup Fladbury defeated a plucky Evesham Working Men’s Club 2-1 before trophies were handed out by Judy Gardner of sponsors Eckington Manor Cookery School.

Both games were well attended and helped raise £600 for local charities. Thanks go to all teams and supporters for their efforts throughout the season.
