WORCESTERSHIRE have signed Essex seamer Ben Allison on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old seamer has taken 42 wickets across all formats in his short career to date.
Head coach Alan Richardson said: “We’re delighted to have Ben join us for the rest of the season. He’s a talented young bowler who has already shown his potential at Essex.
“He’s a good fit for our bowling attack, and I’m sure he’ll be a valuable asset to the team.
“Ben is a tall, right-arm bowler who bowls with pace and seam. He’s also a good fielder and has a great attitude, and someone we believe can make a real impact as we look to achieve promotion.”
Allison took three wickets in the match and hit a valuable 37 runs in the first innings as Worcestershire’s pursuit of top-flight LV=Insurance County Championship cricket continued with an 80-run win over Glamorgan at New Road.
The result leaves the Pears in second place in Division Two, 20 points behind leaders Durham who they face at New Road next on Tuesday, September 19.
Ahead of Sunday’s next round of games, Worcestershire are 24 points ahead of third place Leicestershire who travel to Hove to face Sussex.
