PERSHORE Tennis Centre’s boys’ ten and under team Ollie Dando and Myles Holland were crowned County Winter League champions on Sunday.

The Pershore team were up against Bromsgrove, Manor Park (Malvern) and HDA Redditch and they came through their matches with a clean sweep of victories to take the title.

Not to be outdone, the adults also did well as the Pershore ladies’ A team managed a 6-4 win against a strong Woolhope (Herefordshire) team.

Sarah McCormick and Polly Arnold won both of their matches and, although Beth Excell and Imogen Looker lost their matches, because they lost both in a close three sets, overall Pershore ladies emerged victorious.

The Pershore men’s A team beat Leamington B by a convincing 4-0 scoreline as the father and son team of Chris and Mike Langston played alongside Julian Ramus and Pete McCreanor.

In the SWAS (South Warwickshire All Season) Tennis League, Pershore men’s B team won 4-0 recently at Wildmoor Spa A (Stratford) in Division Five.

The team was captain Dave Morris alongside Tom Adamson and Peter Corbishley partnering Bong Andales and Pershore won to extend their unbeaten run to four matches – three wins and a draw.

In the Herefordshire & Worcestershire League the Pershore men’s B team match at Halesowen resulted in a 2-2 draw, as three of the four rubbers needed tie breaks in the third set to settle them.

Pershore B won more sets and this is therefore classed as a ‘winning draw’. The team was Bong Andales alongside Brian Taylor and John Alexander partnering Daniel Walker.
