OVERNIGHT frost caused several postponements in the Evesham Sunday League in which Ashton 88 continue to lead Division Two after a Jonathan Cother goal secured the points in a 1-0 victory against Cropthorne.
Stour Excelsior are second following a narrow 3-2 win at Drakes Broughton Rangers in which Oscar Hair, Ed Caswell and Jamie Vadasz scored for the Shipston side and Bill Hemming and Andrew Ward netted for Rangers.
Strawberry Field United are third after recording a comfortable 9-2 win over Pebworth through goals from Craig Colston (3), Ashton Welland (2), Connor Sherry, Matt Magee, Mark Magee and Jake Maisey.
TDMS Evesham moved off the bottom with a 2-1 victory at Stratford HGC in which Morgan Ballinger and Tom Dixon scored for the academy side and Chris Dolce was on target for Stratford.
One game survived the weather in Division Three and it was a thriller as Vale United and Ashton 88 Reserves shared six goals in a 3-3 draw. Matt O’Donovan, Paul Law and Lee Foxall scored for Vale and Andrew Cope (2) and Chris Davies registered for Ashton.
With Evesham WMC’s game postponed, Bretforton Old Boys returned to the top of Division One by defeating New Inn Pershore 5-0 through goals from Jamie Clarke (2), Phil Davis (2) and Ryan Reeves.
Bretforton Sports Club kept up the pressure on the leaders with a convincing 7-1 win over Broadway United in which Will Gayton (3), George Kirby (2), Will Beach and Mike Jennings scored and Brandon Parker netted a consolation for Broadway.
Inkberrow are also in the title hunt after Greg Guy, Codie Walker, Tom Emblem and Kieron Sheen scored in a 4-1 success at TDMS Harvington, for whom Luke Woodfield struck.
Offenham Rovers and Mickleton Rangers shared six goals, with Rovers’ goals coming from Jake Hall, James Cresswell and Alex Trinder and Rangers’ via Josh Keen, Matt Tye and Alfie Barnes.
