THE CLOCKS had moved forward an hour to declare the start of British Summer Time but there was an early morning chill in the air at Broadway Golf Club as 87 competitors turned out to play in the men’s Broadway Bogey won by Bill Cook.
The morning soon transformed into a beautiful one with clear blue skies providing near perfect conditions for the par competition.
A full field had turned out to compete in the first official qualifier of the season and all were set to make the most of the ideal conditions.
Cook was in fine form to secure a winning score of 5up ahead of second-placed Gary Barnett who came in an excellent 4up.
Also 4up but third on countback was third-placed Matt Sollis, with James Powell and Paul Whelan equalling the impressive score and clinching fourth and fifth places respectively.
