MALCOLM COLLEDGE secured overall victory in an exciting day’s racing at Arden Sailing Club on Sunday.
In a steady southerly breeze, the main contest in the first race was between the Comet single-handed dinghies.
There was close racing between Tricia Wood and Colledge, with Wood taking the line honours followed by Colledge and then David Bryden in his Heron dinghy.
In the second race a slightly brisker breeze was taken advantage of by Bryden in his Heron who was able to win on handicap. Wood and Colledge finished second and third respectively.
The overall winner would be decided by the outcome of the third race. This time, the Streaker of Simon Newman sailed better and, although unable to secure first place, he took second place to Colledge’s Comet, leaving Wood third.
Colledge was victorious overall, with Wood and Bryden joint second and Newman fourth.
The fine weather encouraged several non-racing members to get out on the water for a fine afternoon’s sailing.
