PERSHORE Tennis Centre’s Antony Fordham and Matt Sime were in fine form as they completed a clean sweep of victories at the boys’ 16 and under Grade 4 doubles event held at Redditch HDA Tennis Club on Saturday.
The duo started against one of the top pairings, Stuart Shannon and Jim Round from Prince Henry’s High School, but the Pershore pair played tight on the net and won the first set 4-2 before taking the second set 4-0 to win the match.
Next up were Joe Hart and Harvey Ravenscroft from the Redditch club and Antony and Matt started this match where they left off as they raced to a 4-0 first set win.
They were equally convincing in the second set which they won 4-1.
Their last match was against Sam Parsons and Max Hurtubise, who were also unbeaten on the day at this stage.
The Pershore pair played strong, aggressive tennis and dominated the net, not giving their opponents time to settle into any sort of a rhythm.
They once again took the first set 4-0 in no time at all, which appeared to rattle their opponents.
The second set had some long rallies but the Pershore duo seemed to have an answer for everything that was thrown at them and a 4-1 set win completed a fine day’s work.
