Celebration time for Wychavon parishes

Evesham Editorial 26th Nov, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

THE WYCHAVON Parish Games 2014 presentation evening took place at the Bell Inn in Eckington last Wednesday as around 100 people attended this celebratory event.

The winners and runners-up in each event were presented with their trophies by Ed O’Brien, Don Elt and Tim Durrant from Severn Trent, who have supported Wychavon Sport financially this year.

The overall trophies were presented by Councillor Lynne Duffy, chairman of Wychavon District Council.

The results had not been announced in advance and there was considerable anticipation waiting for the overall winners to be announced.

Runners-up this year were Eckington, who had been overall winners for the last two years, and the overall winners for the first time were Hill & Moor.

Much credit has to go to Michelle Orgill and Darren Selvey, the parish organisers, for the hard work they have put into Hill & Moor’s entry over the last few years.

The Small Parishes Trophy was won by Wick, the Medium Parishes Trophy was won by Bretforton and the Award of Merit honour went to Wyre Piddle.

The AGM will take place on Monday, January 26 at the Civic Centre and it is hoped that as many parishes as possible will be represented.
