CROPTHORNE race ace James Calado said he was raring to go ahead of his debut in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship today (Friday).

Season six of the championship began in Ad Diriyah and Calado, who is entering his rookie season in Formula E, is relieved to finally get a chance.

“I never really got the opportunity to have the freedom to join Formula E, but things have finally turned good. I’m really excited to be here with competitive drivers and top manufacturers. It’s a great place to be and I can’t wait to get started.”

The 2019/20 campaign is set to be the sport’s biggest ever year with the most competitive and unpredictable grid in motorsport taking to the track.

With Mercedes-Benz and Porsche making their Formula E debut, never in the history of motorsport has such a prestigious group of brands been assembled on the grid as German beasts Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche compete against each other in the same series for the first time in motorsport history.

This season will also see Attack Mode, a boost which lets every driver pick up an extra 25kW hit of power by driving through the set Activation Zone, increased to 35kW.

The championship will also return to London for the season finale double-header on July 25/26 next year, giving fans the chance to watch Calado on home soil.

Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver Calado is relishing the prospect of racing in London for the British manufacturer.

“British driver for a British team coming to London for a season finale double-header, that’s really special. The indoor/outdoor track at the ExCeL looks awesome so I’m really looking forward to it,” added Calado.

The ABB FIA Formula E Championship is live on the BBC red button.
