THE LADIES AM/AM was the highlight of the week at Broadway Golf Club as 76 ladies from across the region competed.

The day was unexpectedly mild and, with course conditions near perfect, players were looking forward to an enjoyable round.

With the best two scores to count on each hole, it was the home teams who soon began to accumulate some impressive scores as they made full use of their local knowledge.

Overall winners were Broadway’s Annabelle Carter, Lyn Chambers, Helen Perry and Chris Parkinson with an excellent 145 nett to clinch top spot.

Next in line were home players Jayne Potter, Debbie Donoghue, Andi Stedman and Dawn Cannon with 146 nett, ahead of third placed Linda Malsey, Jan Evans, Sue Wastie and Dawn Torgerson from Oxford City Golf Club who clearly found Broadway to their liking as they carded 147.

Awards were also given for best front and back nine scores and the Cotswold Hills team of Pat Fluck, Pam Collins, Tess Dick and Gilly Bogdiukiewicz won with 75 on the front and The Warwickshire quartet of Anne Greenwell, Kathy Goddard, Wendy Phayer and Jenny Hindmarch prevailed with 72 nett on the back nine.

Nearest the pins were also available on all par 3s and Doreen Reeve was closest on the fifth, Annabelle Carter on the eighth and Sue Wastie of Oxford City on the 13th.
