BROADWAY Golf Club’s members flocked to the club at the weekend to attend their annual prize-giving event which was a celebration of a wide array of achievements.
Some fantastic trophies, polished to perfection, were handed out and it was particularly pleasing to see representatives from the club’s vibrant juniors section pack the room to enjoy the ceremony, as did keen members of the men’s and ladies’ sections.
Some of these had won multiple prizes, whilst others had come just to celebrate the success of their fellow playing members.
Throughout the season there have been many tremendous success stories and it would be impossible to name them all, but Kyle Wright, at the tender age of eight and supported by his twin Ryan, won countless prizes, along with Will Icke, the 2016 juniors captain, and Tom Vilona from the juniors section.
In the ladies’ section, Chris Moulder, Sue Barker, Vicky Watkins and Wendy Hicks to name but a few were among those who took home numerous awards.
In the men’s section, Mike Humpston, Stuart Sollis and James Hicks achieved notable successes.
These and many others should be congratulated for their achievements, but three of the most significant awards of all are the Club Championships in which 36 gruelling holes are played over the same day and the competition never fails to provide a true test of grit and resilience for all who compete.
Broadway’s three club champions are shown receiving their awards. They are 2015 juniors club champion Kieran Sutton, ladies’ champion Linda Carruthers and men’s club champion Jamie Andrew.
