BROADWAY claimed the Wychavon Parish Games bowls title as 14 Parishes took part in the event at Evesham Bowling Club.

Broadway pipped Badsey to the crown by a single point after six rounds of action.

Last year’s winners Cropthorne finished third with North and Middle Littleton fourth, Fladbury fifth and Wick sixth.

The other Parishes to take part were Little Comberton, Eckington, Evesham Bengeworth, Sedgeberrow, Ashton-under-Hill, Inkberrow, Wyre Piddle and Bretforton.

Pershore Bowls Centre sponsored the event.

The final two one-day events – the senior table tennis, sponsored by Beswicks Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning, and the junior table tennis, sponsored by Vic Haines Transport, take place this Saturday (October 12).

The knockout events have reached either the quarter-final or semi-final stage.

And the final of the ladies darts, sponsored by the Valkyrie Bar, takes place on Sunday, October 20.

The crib semi-finals will be played between Eckington and Evesham Bengeworth and Wyre Piddle and Sedgeberrow.

Eckington and Evesham Bengeworth will meet again in one semi-final of the pool with the other semi-final between Badsey and Wyre Piddle.

The presentation evening will take place on Friday, November 22 at Bengeworth Social Club in Evesham.

Chairman of Wychavon District Council, Coun George Duffy, will attend the presentation evening.
