Bretforton Old Boys on verge of title joy

Evesham Editorial 25th Jan, 2018   0

ONLY five Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League games ‘survived’ the inclement weather as Bretforton Old Boys all but wrapped up the Division One title with a 7-0 win at Broadway United.

Goalscorers for Old Boys, who are looking at a clean sweep of trophies with their strong squad, were Sean Brain and Will Gayton with hat-tricks and Beech.

The match at Mickleton Rangers was abandoned after 50 minutes when opponents Offenham Rovers walked off complaining it was too cold and wet. The league are investigating the matter.

Tewkesbury Town reached the last eight of the Mick Godwin Cup with a 4-1 home victory over fellow Division One side Inkberrow. Town scored through Tarling (2), Keen and Pepperell.

Pebworth moved to the top of Division Three with games in hand thanks to a 2-0 success at Alcester Town, whilst Stratford HGC remain firmly in the promotion picture following a 5-0 home win over Dragons through goals coming from Dickson (2), Clifford, Bate and Spilsbury.

Strawberry Field United returned to winning ways with a 5-3 home victory against Ambi Allsports in an entertaining encounter. Magee (2), Mason (2) and Colston scored for Strawberry Field and Tarry, Colin Dawe and Ian Dawe were on target for Allsports.
