BRETFORTON Ladies’ two teams completed an away double to boost their title hopes.
The firsts recorded a 2-1 win at Cheltenham 3rds and remain level on points with pacesetters Cirencester 2nds in the West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Severn Division One.
And Bretforton 2nds enjoyed a goal spree with Lucy Cole scoring a hat-trick as they swept aside Lansdown 4ths 6-0 in Severn Division Three to retain top spot.
There was no holding back the Seconds after a frustrating draw last week which ended their perfect winning start.
From the whistle a swift move from midfielders Emma Lowe and Molly Stock down the right wing ended with a cross from Ness Dufty and Lucy Cole grabbed her first goal.
With confidence high, captain Andrea Cole blasted home a loose ball into goal to make it 2-0.
Isla Clayton and Chloe Vickridge worked well together on the left hand side, and Clayton slipped the ball to Cole who slipped it past the keeper.
Lowe and Stock on the right created numerous chances for Bretforton and Dufty picked up the ball from Stock to finally fire into the backboard for 4-0 after the keeper saved three times.
After half-time, Lansdown came out the stronger, forcing defenders Nat Benwell and Kate Hodgson into action, with Linda Bell making some key saves.
Dufty then fired home a fifth after lovely build-up by Lowe and Stock.
The best move of the match was reserved until the last minute when Lowe’s slide-rule pass found Dufty and she sent the ball to Lucy Cole whose shot hit the post but then followed up to beat the keeper for her hat trick.
With the half-term break, Bretforton have a week off.
The 1sts entertain Landsdown 2nds on Saturday, Nover 4, and the seconds are also at home to Bourton and Sherbourne 3rds.
