Brain nets four to fire Bretforton Old Boys to title

BRETFORTON Old Boys retained the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One title with a hard fought 5-4 home win over Offenham Rovers thanks to four goals from Sean Brain and another from Sam Beddoes. Nick Burrows and Alex Trinder both netted twice for Rovers.

Kyle Ballard gave New Inn Pershore the lead against visitors Inkberrow before Alex Bullock’s effort levelled matters in a 1-1 draw.

Broadway United and Tewkesbury Town shared eight goals as Dave Cooper (2), Sam Hopkins and Ben Clifton netted for Broadway and Andrew Pepperell (2), Matt Tarling and Jamie Moore scored for Town.

In Division Two, Alderton moved top with a 1-0 victory at Sun Inn, whilst Badsey Recreation picked up a valuable three points in the relegation battle as they saw off visitors Fortis 5-1 through Ryan Attwood (2), Charlie Banning, Conor Wilson and Stuart Davis. Jonathan Wallace scored for Fortis.




Ambi Allsports dented Ashton 88’s Division Three promotion bid with a surprise 4-1 away win in which Billy Wilkinson, Will Johns, Gary Booth and Max Tarry scored for Ambi.

Second-placed Stour Excelsior Reserves also dropped points as they lost 1-0 at home to Dragons and goals from Will McGarr (3) and Ryan Upson helped TDMS Evesham overcome visitors Alcester Town 4-1.


Holders Broadway United Reserves were knocked out of the Bluck Cup 4-1 at the quarter-final stage by hosts TDMS Harvington as Luke Woodfield (2), Jay Bunn and Chris Johnson secured victory.

Stratford HGC are into the semis after George Spilsbury (2), Dan Drake and Dave Veitch scored in a 4-1 home win over Cropthorne, for whom Tom Barton struck.

Bretforton Old Boys Reserves won 2-0 at Charlton Fladbury to also move into the last four.

Evesham WMC reached the last eight of the Mick Godwin Cup with an emphatic 12-1 home win over Fairfield Titans as the Workies’ goals came from Elliot Grady (4), Dom Hartland (3), Sam Ford (2), Ryan Dixon (2) and James White. Fairfield scored through Steven Visor.
