Boxing club's visit is well received by pupils

EVESHAM Boxing Club officials visited The De Montfort School to pass on some tips about the noble art to youngsters who wanted to try their hand at the sport.

Run by head coach Jon Campbell and helped by teacher and club member Duncan Broe, the day went very well as more and more pupils wanted to take part.

By teaching the basics and initially being non-contact, the sport can be enjoyed by everyone.

Campbell said: “The main focus of the day was to engage young people into a constructive sport that teaches discipline, hard work, self-belief and confidence.

“With girls and boys attending between the ages of 11 and 16, everyone had a good laugh and got some good basic boxing skills under their belt.

“There were a few there with great potential in boxing and we hope to see them attend Evesham Boxing Club training nights to continue the good progress made on the day.”
