Bluck Cup joy for Inkberrow

INKBERROW lifted the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Bluck Cup thanks to a last minute penalty by Lewis Sheen which sunk Ecosamba 2-1.

The match was spoilt by the strong wind but to their credit both Inkberrow and Ecosamba tried their best to play good football in difficult conditions.

Inkberrow struck first after 15 minutes with a superb strike from Dan Johnson, but Ecosamba drew level ten minutes before the interval with a fine finish from former Evesham United player Jack Watts.

The second half saw Ecosamba produce the better chances, although Inkberrow struck the bar from a free kick before they won the match in injury time.

In Division Four, Dragons comfortably defeated visitors Pebworth 6-1 with goals from Wicks (2), Mayhew (2), Wilsdon and Jennings.

Division One champions Evesham WMC defeated visitors Bear 2-1 to reach the Evesham Hospital Sunday Junior Cup final, in which their opponents will be holders Ocean Designs after the Kidderminster team recorded a 6-0 victory at Fladbury Athletic.

Cider Mill reached the Minor Cup final thanks to an excellent 5-1 home win over Alcester Town.

The Pershore Hospital Junior Cup final saw Bretforton Old Boys enjoy a 5-0 win over Pinvin United.

A large crowd saw Bretforton go 2-0 up by half time and in the early stages of the second half Pinvin missed some chances to get back into the game.

After Pinvin had a player sent off, Bretforton added further goals to complete an emphatic victory, following which the trophies were presented by competition sponsor Judy Garner of Eckington Manor Cookery School.

All monies raised from the match are passed on to local charities and the Hospital Cup committee are now looking for some help to keep the competition going.

Anyone interested can ring secretary Alan Barnett on 01386 860243 or attend the AGM later in the season.

This Sunday sees the Evesham Mechanical Services Knockout Cup final between Fladbury Athletic and Jackson Fairfield. The match will be held at Evesham United and starts at 2pm.
