NEIL BETTERIDGE emerged victorious from a thrilling two-day Evesham Golf Club Men’s Club Championship over the weekend.
This year’s championship was hotly contested by a strong field of players, with all having the opportunity to lift the most prestigious club trophy.
On Saturday when the first round scores were entered, it became clear that both single-figure and higher handicappers were in with a shout.
Leading on day one was Ashley Curnock with a nett score of 68, whilst best gross score went to Gavin Griffiths on 78.
However, there were a dozen players in hot pursuit, all within four shots of the clubhouse leader.
Day two had conditions perfect for low scoring and Keith Gater took the prize for lowest nett score of 66 on the day.
The best gross score was 74 by Betteridge, who not only had the lowest cumulative nett score of 138, but also the best gross score of 152 to take the Club Championship trophy and Frank Swann trophy home with him.
