Bengeworth prevail in seven-goal cup thriller

BENGEWORTH reached the last eight of the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Bluck Cup with a narrow 4-3 win over Ashton 88.
Lane (2), Pilling and Mason scored for the Evesham side, whilst the villagers were on the mark through James, Lawrence and Evans.
Also through are Broadway United Reserves who defeated Stour Excelsior Reserves 3-2 with goals from Crowley, Berryman and Cole. Stour scored through Pecelin and Walker.
Dawe’s double helped Ambi Allsports edge out TDMS 3-2. Hall was also on the mark for the victors and Bell and Remekie netted for the high school team.
Last season’s beaten finalists Pebworth were knocked out 4-1 by Stratford United for whom Waldron (2), Drake and Glover scored, with McGinley the lone scorer for Pebworth.
Bretforton Old Boys moved to the top of Division One as they leapfrogged opponents Evesham WMC thanks to a 4-2 victory.
Old Boys scored through Clarke (2), Cooke and Davis and the Workies netted through Grady and Iorns.
Basement club Alcester Town gained a welcome point with a 2-2 draw at Pinvin United thanks to Davies’ double. Bellamy and Bhatt scored for Pinvin.
Cider Mill came from behind to win 3-2 at Stour Excelsior with goals from Reading, Tomkotowicz and Stevens which meant strikes from Mumford and Caswell went without reward for the hosts.
Mickleton Rangers ended Broadway United’s unbeaten record as goals from Beasley (2), Collins and Robinson secured a 4-1 success, leaving Hopkins’ goal as a consolation for United.
Unfortunately, the match between Tewkesbury Town and Inkberrow had to be abandoned after a player sustained a broken leg.
New Inn Pershore stay top of Division Two after winning a high-scoring game 6-4 at Quinton. Rushden netted a hat-trick for New Inn and Kelly, Brant and Ballard were also on the mark for the victors, whilst Brocklehurst bagged a double for the home team, for whom Land and Drinkwater also scored.
Offenham Rovers are second following a comfortable 7-1 win over Charlton Old Boys through goals from Trinder (3), Brain (2), Rowley and Gillett. Old Boys’ goal was scored by Clements.
Harvington hit nine without reply against Dragons as Philpott (3), Sanders (2), Woodfield (2), Handy and Wallace did the damage.
Badsey Recreation won 3-0 at Bredon with first half goals from Banning, Benfield and Attwood and Sun Inn were 3-1 victors at Cropthorne through goals from Lydiard (2) and Mitchell.
Bretforton Old Boys Reserves remain second in Division Three after being held 2-2 at Evesham United Sunday. Hincks and Wallace scored for the Robins and Jennings bagged a brace for Old Boys.
Fortis made light work of beating Avon Titans 8-1 thanks to goals from Meynall (3), Hawkins, Wallace, Adamson, Simcox and Nishigaki. Titans struck through Reader.
