Ballard brace guides New Inn Pershore into quarters

NEW INN PERSHORE reached the last eight of the Mick Godwin Cup with a 3-1 victory over fellow Evesham Sunday League Division One side Tewkesbury Town. Kyle Ballard (2) and Josh Smith scored for New Inn, with Matt Tarling replying for Town.

Division One leaders Bretforton Sports Club needed penalties to overcome TDMS Harvington after the teams had shared six goals. Tim Beattie, Ben Johns and Matt Staley scored for Bretforton and Jack Hollins, Jack Philpott and Chris Handy netted for Harvington.

Cropthorne won the local derby 2-0 at Fladbury with goals from Stuart Bryant and Daniel Hibberd and Inkberrow progressed with a comfortable 8-1 win over Ambi Allsports through goals from Lewis Sheen (3), Greg Guy (2), Liam Firkin (2) and Alex Griffiths.

Stour Excelsior went goal crazy against Bengeworth, winning 17-0 as Josh Gibbs scored six goals and Jared Randall and Wes Mack bagged hat-tricks. Ian Ross (2), Alex Welsby, Patrick Ross and Rob Shurmer also scored.




The quarter-final line-up was completed by Stratford HGC who defeated Ashton 88 3-0 with goals from Harvey Money, George Spilsbury and Sam Jalowiecki.

Third division side Strawberry Field United reached the last four of the Evesham Mechanical Services KO Cup with an emphatic 7-1 win over Stour Excelsior Reserves in which Connor Sherry (3), Mark Magee (2) and Jake Maisey (2) scored the goals to set up a semi-final with Alderton.


Bretforton Old Boys moved level at the top of Division One with a narrow 3-2 win at Broadway United in which the home side scored through Louis Sutton and Jack Milward and Old Boys’ goals came from Sam Beddoes (2) and George Davis.

Mickleton Rangers won 3-2 at Offenham Rovers thanks to a Chris Mills double and an own goal. Jake Hall scored twice for the home team.

Alderton are looking good for promotion from Division Two following an excellent 5-1 win at Pebworth through goals from Liam Pennell (3), Matthew Greaves and Harry Davies. Tom Benfield scored for the hosts.

Fortis led at the break against TDMS Evesham through a Paul Macfarlane double, only for the home team to hit back thanks to a Tom Jones treble.

Badsey Recreation found form with a 6-0 home victory over AFC Cheltenham in which the goalscorers were Stuart McDerby (3), Phil Davis (2) and Mathew Smith.

In Division Three, Alcester Town defeated visitors Fairfield Titans 4-0 with goals from Billy Adams, Will Calcroft, Tom Hincks and Carl Reynolds and Vale United returned to winning ways against Bredon with a 5-2 success in which Graham Westmacott (2), Paul Law (2) and Mark Hall were on target for Vale and the visitors replied with goals from Jordan Huggins and Phil Jones.
