Ashton keep up the pressure in promotion race

ASHTON 88 maintained their unbeaten league campaign to close the gap at the top of Evesham Sunday League Division Three with an 8-2 victory over Ambi Allsports in which Lewis Carter and Will Stevens both scored four goals for the village side.

Stour Excelsior won a high-scoring game 6-3 at Dragons as Sam Johnson scored five times and Nick Shurmer also netted for the Shipston side, with Dragons replying with goals from Rob Burford (2) and Luke Trotman.

Alderton top Division Two following their 4-2 win at AFC Cheltenham in which Matt Greaves scored a hat-trick and James Ellis also netted for the visitors. Brendan Sprason and Luke Sutherland struck for the hosts.

Pebworth are second after edging out visitors Badsey Recreation 4-3. Tom Benfield and Adam Willington hit doubles for Pebworth and Stuart Davis (2) and Matt Smith scored for Badsey.




Fladbury continue to climb the table after defeating hosts TDMS Evesham 4-1 through goals from Cameron Dickenson (2), Alex Brettell and Henry Bermingham. Morgan Ballinger scored for the hosts.

The two Bretforton sides fill the top two places in Division One. Old Boys are top after goals from Tom Leonard and Rob Sone defeated visitors Offenham Rovers 2-0 and Bretforton Sports Club are second after goals from Ben Johns and Tim Beattie sealed a 2-0 success at New Inn Pershore.


Evesham WMC completed a league double over Broadway United as they put the visitors to the sword 4-1 through goals from Sam Ford (2), Ben Carter and Will Middleton, with Dave Cooper on target for Broadway.

Goals from Shayne Eden and Fred Murphy earned Stour Excelsior a 2-0 home victory against Mickleton Rangers.

In round two of the Mick Godwin Cup there were several comfortable wins. TDMS Harvington brought Fairfield Titans back down to earth with a resounding 13-0 win in which Carl Wallace (3), Jack Philpott (3), Luke Woodfield (2), Jay Bunn (2), Jack Hillins, Kodi Sallis and Simon Woodfield were amongst the goalscorers.

Cropthorne won 8-1 at Vale United through goals from Leon Williams (4), John Boother (2), Matt Walker and Aron Letteresse, with Paul Law on target for the hosts.

Inkberrow accounted for visitors Fortis 5-0 as Alex Bullock, Tom Emblem, Greg Guy, Alex Griffiths and Kieron Sheen all scored and Stratford HGC won 5-2 at Bredon as Sam Jalowiecki netted a treble.

Division One side Tewkesbury Town, for whom Scott Jordan scored, needed penalties to defeat third division visitors Alcester Town after the sides shared two goals.
