ARCHERY - Junior archers on target as trio win medals in Wythall

EVESHAM Archery Club’s juniors won medals across the board in a fantastic showing at the West Midlands Regional and Worcestershire County Junior Championships.

Three of Evesham’s junior archers travelled to the competition, held at Redhill Archers in Wythall.

The three archers were Caitlin Simper in the under-14 ladies recurve class, Luke Wilson in the under-16 gentleman compound class and Alex Shehata-Morgan in the under-16 gentleman recurve class.

And Alex won gold with a magnificent score of 1086 in his class in both the West Midlands and Worcestershire awards.

There was also gold for Luke in the Worcestershire awards having claimed silver with a superb score of 1126 in the West Midlands competition.

And Caitlin won silver in the Worcestershire awards having taken bronze in the West Midlands event with a great score of 888.

The club also placed third in the team event, despite only being able to field three out of four archers, and are extremely proud of the juniors.

Alex has been competing in events since the age of 10-years-old with Luke and Caitlin taking part in their first open competition.

Luke took up the sport of archery last year whilst Caitlin only completed her beginner’s course two months ago.

And despite the chilly and blustery conditions, all three archers excelled to post some terrific scores across the age groups whilst a new national record was achieved during the course of the competition.

Evesham would like to extend a huge thank you to Redhill Archers for organising and hosting a great event.
