Youth centre has room to grow

Evesham Editorial 15th Dec, 2017   0

A NEW confidential room space has been created at Ourside Youth Centre.

Funded by Growers United, this has provided the youth centre with the much-needed space to deliver essential youth work activities, which is only possible in a confidential space.

Centre manager Bev Wride said the new offering was something both staff and the young people were really excited about.

“We are so grateful to Growers United, the room has already made a massive difference in allowing us to positively respond and offer the right support to the young people who need it,” she said.

The room at the centre in Broadway Road, Evesham, has been decorated and furnished by young people with a focus on sensory items.

Along with the new appointment of a young persons mental health youth worker, this will allow for both focused programmes and one-to-one youth work sessions. A small group work project around exploring issues of anxiety is due to start next week with young people.

The room is also available for hire to other services and agencies. Staff at Ourside hope it will provide a confidential space for other groups allowing the building to become a hub for young people.
