A RALLYING call has gone out to Evesham youngsters and their parents to get involved in the town’s popular junior parkrun.

A total of 58 fantastic junior park runners, aged between four and 14, assembled for the pre-run briefing and warm-up at the first event earlier this month.

The turnout was beyond all expectations and the young runners were soon underway bounding off over the field at Hampton Ferry.

One of the organisers, Lindsay Lewis-Painter, said: “It was great to see so many youngsters having fun with lots of smiles, laughter and effort on display.

“Adults were doing their best to keep up with the juniors as they blasted around the course. There were some really impressive times and some wonderful sprint finishes.

The core team would like to join me in saying a huge thank you to everyone who has helped to make this happen.”

After the event, the hungry runners retured to Raphael’s Restaurant for a drink and a slice of cake.

Anyone interested in helping at an event should email [email protected] or speak to a volunteer at Sunday’s run. The free of charge weekly run is held every Sunday at Hampton Ferry.

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to register before their first run and print off a barcode which then can be used each week.
