YOUNGSTERS at Fladbury CE First School became ‘Head for the Day’ following a fund-raising auction which raised more than £3,000 for IT equipment for the school.
Six-year-olds Charlie Pack, Nikki English and Jessica English, eight, took it in turns to be in charge and welcomed everyone into school in the morning and then made sure the building was secure. They then took a turn at leading assembly, answering
telephone calls and e-mails, sending a text to parents and supervising lunchtime.
Headteacher Julie Wilson praised their efforts and said the trio showed leadership skills.
“I think learned a lot from the experience, I loved having the additional ‘headteachers’ to help me run the school and the other children loved the idea.
“I hope that when they go to university they choose to make teaching their profession.” she added.
