Youngsters invited to join new group in Evesham

YOUNGSTERS are invited to join a free new youth group for 10 to 18-year-olds in Evesham.

‘YouNite’ has been set up through a collaboration between different churches in the town.

It currently attracts around 25 young people each Friday evening who meet at the Vale of Evesham Community Church.

The group was the brainchild of Andy Smith, vicar of St Peter’s Church in Bengeworth.

The group is overtly Christian, with young people able to play games such as table tennis and pool or use the computer consoles before around 25 minutes of organised games before 20 minutes of faith input.

This input could include engagement with the bible, sharing of testimony or answering some of the young people’s questions about faith.

Andy said: “We try to offer a safe space for young people.

“A place where they can ask questions, talk, and have an adult listen who is not a parent or teacher.

“However, it’s more than just turning up and playing games.

“We want to help navigate the complexities of being a teenager and show the young people that Jesus is there for them and can help them to live life well.

“We want this to be church for the young people who come along.”
