YOUNG people aged between 16 and 17 are now able to get a new railcard which will give them half price fares and season tickets.
The 16-17 Saver, which costs £30-per-year and will be available for use from this week, is the highest ever discounted card for young adults and rail bosses anticipate it will give 1.2million a helping hand.
Users can have their card, launched on Tuesday, sent to their phone or a printed version.
The Young Person’s Railcard for 16 to 25-year-olds, which is also £30-per-year, offers only a third off fares and is mainly for leisure activities
The 16-17 Saver is aimed at helping teenagers with all rail travel – from college and education to family days out and enabling them to explore Britain via the railways.
