A CELEBRATION of all things knitted will be held at a popular Evesham tea shop this weekend.

Crochet experts to novice knitters have all ben in invited to JellyPickleJam Vintage Tea and Gift Shop in Vine Mew from 10am to 2pm tomorrow for the fifth annual Yarn Shop Day.

The event has been organised by leading publications Let’s Knit and Let’s Get Crafting in a bid to celebrate Britain’s much-loved independent wool shops.

“We’re very happy to be taking part,” said Lisa Whelan, owner of JellyPickleJam.

“Knitting and crochet are growing in popularity, and customers rely on their local yarn shop for more than just needles and wool. It’s a place to get advice and feel part of a crafting community.”

JellyPickleJam will be hosting knitting and crochet drop-in workshop for those who’d like to try their hand or get help with tricky patterrns, stitches or projects.

Local expert tutors Hazel the Hookster and Anne Craghill from Annie’s Knits will be on hand and residents are invited to bring reading glasses if they need them and their current knitting or crochet project if they’d like help with it.

Exclusive Yarn Shop Day Dixie the Llama, Milo the Cat and Citrus Spings Blanket patterns will be available free for all who attend.

“We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new through the door for an exciting day of yarn-based fun. We hope local knitters and crocheters will come along and show their support for bricks-and-mortar yarn stores,” Lisa added.
