Wychavon revealed as fourth best place in UK to live

Rob George 19th Dec, 2017   0

WYCHAVON has been named as the fourth best place to live in the UK by Halifax’s Quality of Life Survey 2017.

The district, which takes in Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich, finished behind Hart in Hampshire, the Orkney Islands and Rutland in the survey

As well as finishing fourth nationally, the district has once again been ranked the highest in the West Midlands.

A range of factors were taken into account to find the UK’s best places to live, including; employment rates, earnings, housing, health, education, personal well-being and leisure facilities.

Wychavon, which fell one placed compared to last year’s survey, scored highly in the personal well-being section, as well as having a higher male and female life expectancy rate than many other places around the country.

The survey also found the district has a large number of pubs and bars per 10,000 adults, and the third highest number of health and fitness clubs- with 3.5 per 10,000 adults.

It’s a welcome boost for the district after figures two weeks ago which claimed Wychavon was the worst in the West Midlands for social mobility for young people from low income backgrounds.

Coun Linda Robinson, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “We’re delighted that once again Wychavon has been confirmed as one of the best places to live in the country.

“It’s obviously no surprise to those of us who call it home as we know it has much to offer like beautiful surroundings, a strong and well supported economy and a strong sense of community spirit.

“As with all things in life there’s always room for improvement and we’re committed to working with our partners to do all we can to make Wychavon an even better place to live, work and visit and by doing so give the people here the best possible quality of life.”
