WORKS to create an improved walking and cycling route in Evesham have got under way.

The improvements being made by Worcestershire County Council will focus on the footpath between Honeysuckle Close and St Davids Drive.

In addition to the widening of the footpath to create a new shared use cycle/footway there will also be new fencing put in place.

The works to widen the footpath, which include the installation of new fencing, will take place under a closure of the footpath for the duration of the works. Works will then move onto between St Margarets Road and Davies Road to construct a wider shared use footpath and to install new fencing.

These works will also take place under a closure of the footpath and, once complete, will form part of the NCN Route 41.

Coun Mike Rouse, county council cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: “Making improvements to walking and cycling routes across the county is important to the county council, and we know enhancing the network in and around Evesham is something that the residents of the town are keen to see.

“The improvements between Honeysuckle Close and St Davids Drive will link in with other works taking place soon in this area to make improvements to the National Cycle Network.”

Works are set to last for up to three weeks.
