THE COUNTDOWN is on for Harvington’s first-ever festival which kicks off with a joint event with the popular Evesham Festival of Words celebration.
Villagers will take the wraps off their debut showcase tomorrow (Saturday) with ‘If Clouds Were Sheep’ which features tea, cake and scones with Sue Andrews in the village hall.
A huge number of events and activities for everyone are scheduled from storytelling and puppet-making to a classic film show for children at the heart of the festival which runs from July 8 to July 22.
Green-fingered residents and visitors are being invited to open gardens and a flower festival while bookworms can enjoy meet the author events, including a Big Read, a festival dinner with a former features editor of the Sun newspaper, wine-tasting and a quiz.
A trio of free musical events; a talk on tracing ancestors, and a theatre workshop and a classic film for the adults is also part of the packed programme.
There is an accessible village trail and treasure hunt for everyone as well as two competitions: One for budding photographers and a 50 word poem or short story challenge.
