HARMONY was assured for a local couple at their wedding in St James’ Church in Defford when they walked down the aisle to the vocal accompaniment of a Pershore-based group.

The 15-strong male barbershop singers from Vale Harmony A Cappella Chorus serenaded Richard Swann and his new bride Carol during the signing of the register with two of their favourite songs before they left the church to the sounds of ‘What a Wonderful World’.

Richard said: “We heard Vale Harmony singing earlier in the year and loved their repertoire and their style.

“It just seemed right to invite them to sing for us at our wedding, and we were thrilled that they were able to do it for us.”

Bride Carol said: “It was wonderful. They sang so many songs for us, all of them beautiful, and the group were so much fun. They helped us create the perfect day.”

Vale Harmony’s Musical Director, Mike Gearey, said: “It was an honour and a pleasure to sing for such a beautiful occasion and to entertain them at their reception afterwards”.

The Rev Canon Susan Renshaw, who conducted the wedding service, praised the group for being pitch perfect and said; “They certainly added to the volume of the hymn singing.”
