A PEDESTRIAN died after being struck by a vehicle on the A44 at Chadbury yesterday (Monday).
Officers responded to the report of a collision involving a white van on the junction of Chadbury Road around 7.40am.
The pedestrian – a woman in her 70s – was struck by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 54-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. They have since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for witnesses.
Sgt Emma Breay, from the Operational Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the woman who sadly passed away.
“They are being supported by specialised trained officers at this difficult time.
“An arrest was made at the scene and that person is assisting with our enquiries.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, may have dashcam footage of the incident, or saw a woman walking along the road prior to the incident.”
