Why the South Worcestershire Development Plan consultation is to be extended

PEOPLE across Evesham and Pershore will be able to submit their thoughts on the South Worcestershire Development Plan until 11.59pm on December 23 after the consultation period on its review was extended.

The consultation was originally meant to end next week however due to small misprints found in paper copies of the plan the deadline has been extended.

A formatting issue in the Spatial Development Strategy and Settlement Hierarchy section caused a misalignment of a table and an incorrect totals figure.

Malvern Hills District Council said the misprints don’t fundamentally change the plan’s content or proposals.

The three South Worcestershire councils have decided they should give the public more time to have their say having corrected the misprint.

Paper copies, including the correction, are available from Customer Contact Centres, libraries and some parish and town council offices.

Coun David Harrison, Chairman of the South Worcestershire Development Plan Joint Advisory Panel, said: “This is a minor issue that won’t have affected the majority of people who viewed and responded to the Plan.

“But having identified there is a problem, it’s right we extend the consultation.”

The comments will be passed on to the planning inspectorate after the consultation, and the plan will then go for examination.
