A PRIVATE taxi hire service based in Evesham has begun accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment for its services.
Air Taxis Evesham run by Iain Burgess since 2017 provides airport taxi, private hire, courier and chauffeur services throughout Wychavon, Worcestershire and surrounding areas for private, corporate and council clients.
Air Taxis Evesham now accepts Bitcoin for its services utilising the mobile app Trust Wallet.
Iain Burgess commented: “Whilst I’m personally new to cryptocurrency, I’ve had a few of my customers request to pay with bitcoin. After a little research I realised it was an easy, safe and surprisingly quick way to receive payment.”
Cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin are based on blockchain technology that doesn’t require a third-party intermediary, like a bank or payment processer, to verify a transaction.
Iain continued: “whilst card payments are always welcome, receiving payment via bitcoin allows me to save on the transaction fees banks usually charge. This means I can pass on savings to my customers.”
Cryptocurrencies have experienced a volatile 2022 so far along with traditional markets. Having risen to $69,000 in 2021, bitcoin is currently trading around $37,000 at the time of writing.
When asked after the future of cryptocurrency, Iain responded: “I think Bitcoin is probably here to stay. Technology seems to be a one-way street and as long as its allowed, I think it’s best to embrace it”.
