Weekend will welcome bishops

A PACKED weekend of events across Evesham and the surrounding villages will be held this weekend to welcome the Bishops of Worcester and Dudley to the Vale.

The Rt Rev Dr John Inge and Rt Rev Graham Usher will join Christians from churches in the town for for a weekend of community events.

All are welcome to come and join the fun and take the opportunity to ask the bishops and others questions about their faith.

Along with the opportunity to ‘grill a bishop’, there will be something for everyone with the chance enjoy tea and coffee in the town, join with fun in the park or attend a flower festival or songs of praise service.




Free tea and coffee will be on offer outside All Saints Church from 10am to midday tomorrow while a free family fun afternoon will be on offer in Abbey Park with crafts, games, singing and much more.

A first chance to ask questions of the pair will be on offer at 3pm at The Valkyrie with further events at 7.30pm with Bishop Inge at the Lenches Club and Bishop Usher at the Old Bull in Inkberrow.


The Bishop of Worcester will be at the church service at St Peter’s in Bengeworth from 10am on Sunday while the Bishop of Dudley will attend St James’ in Badsey from 11am.

A First World War themed festival at Kington will follow at 11am followed by a Songs of Praise service at 4.30pm

Families are invited to a fun day at Harvington Village Hall followed by a Songs of Praise service while the weekend will come to a close with a service at St Andrew’s in Hampton at 6.30pm.

The Bishop of Dudley, Graham Usher, said: “I’m delighted to be spending the weekend in Evesham. We have a big team of people coming to the town and surrounding areas, to tell their stories and share the love of Jesus with others.

“I hope people will come and join the fun and think of some really challenging questions to put to me!”
