Waterside is reopened as a flood warning remains for the Avon

WATERSIDE is now open after floodwaters fell from their peak, but a flood warning remains in force on the River Avon.

The deluge of rain on Wednesday led to the road becoming impassable as the Avon peaked at about 3.8 metres yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

River levels have since dropped. At 7am this morning (Friday) the Avon stood at about 2.98 metres, with the Environment Agency still warning of flooding along the river- with it expected to climb to 3.2 metres this afternoon.

Standing water still remains along Waterside and drivers are being urged to drive carefully along the road.

There are still some road closures across the Vale, including Eckington Bridge, Jubilee Bridge in Fladbury and Brook Lane in Cropthorne.

All ford crossings across Worcestershire are also closed.
