MOTORISTS have been warned to expect delays when a £2million scheme to improve water pipes in Evesham begins.
Severn Trent will be delivering more than seven km of upgraded water pipes in Evesham from Tuesday (January 3).
The £2.18million investment will help to ensure customers have a reliable water supply, as the new pipes will mean fewer issues such as bursts, which can be a problem with older pipes.
Work on the Worcester Road begins on Tuesday with a second team then starting on the A444 Salters Lane junction from February 27. The full programme to install the new, upgraded water pipes is expected to be completed by the end of May.
Paul Hughes, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “These works are part of our wider project to ensure that customers in Evesham have a more reliable water supply.
“We are making significant investments into our networks to minimise incidents such as bursts which can negatively impact customer supply, while future-proofing the network against population growth and climate change.
“In order to keep everyone safe, we have agreed with the local authority that temporary traffic management – including two- and three-way traffic lights – will be in place throughout the works.
“We know roadworks can be frustrating, and we would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience while we deliver these important works.”
