Wartime in the Vale pulls in the crowds

VISITORS braved the rain to show their support for one of the largest Second World War military vehicle and re-enactment events in the country.

This year’s Wartime in the Vale celebrations at Ashdown Farm in Badsey attracted more than 500 vehicles.

Visitors turned up in period dress and stepped back in time to be entertained by aircraft, battles, military stalls, mini tank rides, dance classes by JazzJiveSwing and singing acts, including the renowned Kitty Ribbons and DJ Woody.

There were also classic and commercial vehicles on display, arena events in the camp, a children’s fayre and a flypast, where visitors had the chance to marvel at a Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire.

Visitors to the two-day festival were treated to a poignant display to mark 75 years since D-Day.

There was also an American Civil War Camp with battle.

The Wartime in the Vale event has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2007 and once again welcomed charities such as Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion.
