Warning issued as heavy rain and strong winds set to sweep in

Evesham Editorial 2nd Jan, 2018   0

HEAVY rain and strong winds are set to affect the county following this morning’s downpours.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Worcestershire for heavy rain and strong winds in the next 24 hours.

A spell of drier weather is set to move in this afternoon before continuous heavy rain from around 7pm this evening and winds overnight which could reach up to 50mph.

The wet weather is set to add to the already raised river levels across much of the Vale although no flood warnings have yet been issued.

The rain is due to ease in time for tomorrow’s rush hour but winds could still be as high as 42mph for the morning commute.

The warning is currently ‘yellow’ which means people should ‘be aware’.

Those travelling should take care as flying debris could lead to a risk of injuries and public transport delays and cancellations.
