MUSICIANS of all abilities are being sought for a new musical ensemble that will be starting rehearsals in the new year.
The Evesham Community Chamber Orchestra is being formed by freelance musician and violin teacher Dan Neville and open to all adults although there are limited places for brass and wind instruments.
The orchestra will run weekly rehearsals on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12pm at St Peter’s Church Hall, Bengeworth, Evesham with the first rehearsal planned for January 8.
Dan, who lives in Malvern, already runs a similar group there which he started six years ago. It has a current membership of around 30 players and performs a couple of concerts a year.
The most recent concert was last month which raised more than £550 for the international humanitarian charity Mission Aviation Fellowship.
Dan told the Observer: “Whether they are regular players still or maybe haven’t touched their instruments for a number of years, this will be an opportunity to have some fun and perform music they wouldn’t have played before together with like-minded people.”
The orchestra’s repertoire will be classical music with some jazz and film scores to add a bit of variety.
