ASPIRING Waitrose workers are being invited to apply for roles in its new Evesham store which opens its doors later this year.

The supermarket is seeking local people for 100 new jobs with Customer Service, Hospitality and Supermarket Assistant positions available.

All roles will be advertised from Friday (August 10) at www.jlpjobs.com and interviews are expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Waitrose is also working with Jobcentre Plus as part of the process to provide interview opportunities for unemployed people.

All successful applicants will become partners in the John Lewis Partnership, the UK’s oldest and largest employee owned business.

This will entitle them to benefits, including learning and leisure subsidies, shopping discounts and a share in the company’s annual profits in the form of an annual bonus.

Waitrose resourcing consultant, Christina Tinley, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening in Evesham. We’ve been delighted by the interest already shown in joining our business and, as a region known for its foodie festivals, we know we share our passion of food with people in the area.

“We’re excited to bring together a team that will build on our reputation for quality service and help us play our part in bringing shoppers to the town.”

Coun Richard Morris, executive board member for Economy and Housing on Wychavon District Council, said: “Waitrose is recognised as one of the country’s top employers and the creation of new jobs and opportunities for local people is just one of the many benefits they are going to bring to Evesham. “
