EVESHAM’s Waitrose and Partners store will open its doors to shoppers on Thursday, November 22, the retail giant has confirmed.

A total of 100 jobs have been created at the town supermarket and Waitrose hailed the ‘fantastic’ response to the recruitment drive which saw more than 550 people apply for roles.

Branch manager Claire Roumph, said: “We were really encouraged by the calibre of applicants. We’re very excited to open our doors for customers in a few weeks’ time and look forward to welcoming everyone in store.”

Vic Allison, deputy managing director at Wychavon District Council, said: “We are thrilled that this major council investment in Evesham town centre has come to fruition and we wish Waitrose every success with the opening.”

The new shop will include a cafe as well as a John Lewis ‘click and collect’ service for online purchases. Its ‘scan as you shop’ and QuickCheck service will be available too.

The retailer has also announced it will be launching its Community Matters ‘green token’ scheme which will see £1,000 shared between three local good causes every month.
