A TRIO of Prince Henry’s High School students have secured their places at Oxbridge after the nervous wait for A-Level results for Vale students came to an end.

Students at the Victoria Avenue school were among those celebrating on Thursday when the results were revealed.

A-Level students have been awarded the highest proportion of As and A*s since 2012, amid changes toughening the exams in England which saw proportion gaining A* to C dropped to 78.4 per cent from 79 per cent last year.

More than a quarter of the results at Prince Henry’s were A* or A with a further 57 per cent obtaining A*or B while 83 per cent were achieved at A* to C.

A total of 30 students achieved three A Levels with at least 2 A grades at A-Level and the overall pass rate for the school was 99 per cent.

Isabel Bromfield and Daniel Smith both secured three A* while Sarah Cowan and Isobel Hardwick achieved two A*’s and an A.

Headteacher Dr Tony Evans said: “There are very many more success stories, too numerous to mention, with most students reaching or exceeding their personal targets. We are delighted that the vast majority of our students have achieved their first choice places at University.

“My staff and I are delighted with the performances that we have seen this year. These are truly wonderful achievements and reflect the hard work of the students, their parents and the teachers here at Prince Henry’s who have supported them.

“We wish all our Year 13 students every success with their future careers. They have been a brilliant year group and we are all very proud of them”

Celebrations were also held at Pershore High School where students helped the school achieve an overall pass rate of 99.6 per cent.

Over three-quarters of all results were obtained at grade C or higher with 53 per cent at A* to B and 29 per cent of entries at A* and A, above the national average of 26.4 per cent.

Among the many student successes were Emmie Bewley who walked off with an A* and three A’s, Lily Blunstone who achieved three A’s and Will Bugg who notched up two A*s and an A

Headteacher Phil Hanson said: “Congratulations to students on the dedication and commitment which has enabled them to achieve such excellent results.

“May I also thank the sixth form team of Jason Howell, Zoe Starkey and Jo Robinson and all other staff for contributing to this outstanding level of student performance.”

Students and staff are celebrating excellent A Level and BTEC results at The De Montfort School.

Headteacher Guy Nichols said: “It’s a real pleasure to see so many happy faces. It has also been heart-warming to see the students and their parents taking the opportunity to thank the staff who have worked tirelessly on their behalf.”

“We wish all our students the very best going forward and thank them for the contribution they have made to our school.”
