Volunteers sought to join fire crews

Evesham Editorial 12th Jan, 2018   0

RESIDENTS across the county who are looking for a new challenge for the new year are being urged to become a fire service community volunteer.

The roles, with Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS), are open to those who are 18 and over who have spare time during the week or at weekends.

The posts are varied and offer a range of exciting opportunities, including participating in educational campaigns to make young people safer, supporting community events and fire station open days and visiting residents to raise awareness of reducing the risk of fire in the home.

Volunteers also play a key role in supporting operational training, acting as ‘casualties’ in training scenarios.

HWFRS’ senior community risk technician Caroline Webster said: “Becoming a community volunteer is an enjoyable, worthwhile experience – it can enhance your CV and you can learn new skills.

“Our community volunteers also provides much needed support and help to educate the people of Hereford and Worcester in how to keep themselves, family and friends safe.”

Applications will close on February 2. Call 0800 032 1155 or visit www.hwfire.org.uk for more.
